Yup - these are still a thing in the old days! I can tell you why, even from doing this site. There is a point in the web design that you have either 'ran out' of things to say - or just wanted to get your brand spanking new site up and running! (For me it's the latter!!) But this page - like the web sites of old WILL NEVER get updated!!!

Unlike my Portfolio, this has had a spell check - hey it was in Word at the time - so copy/paste text from Word to Dreamweaver was possible. Also because we could use Dreamweaver - we were able to create one page, and save it as different ones. This gave birth to templates. So you were able to find an html template on the web, and modify it!

As we were able to use tables - it meant we had more control on where images were too. It also meant we could have a menu/navigation system too. With the portfolio site - that was possible to just do it in a text editor like notepad - because it was only a page with stuff. This on the other hand had more elements - so a program like Dreamweaver (Macromedia NOT Adobe!) was the facto software of the time. We were able to add LOADS of stuff to our sites

I haven't used an animation on my index page for one reason alone - It would have been done via Flash - which is now no longer a thing - so just an image!!!
